A GOUROCK musician relished a strange day — as he played a dream gig in Los Angeles at a famous venue where The Doors once performed.

Singer-songwriter Scott Beaton is still on a high after taking to the stage at the world-famous Whisky A Go Go on Sunset Strip, West Hollywood.

The 23-year-old says the opportunity came about by pure chance after trying his luck with club bosses — and he was thrilled to emulate one of his heroes, Doors frontman Jim Morrison, alongside his drummer Ross Cochran-Brash.

They were surrounded by a host of big names from the world of showbiz in Hollywood — and a film star from Inverclyde was there to catch their performance.

Scott told the Tele: “It was an incredible experience.

“Martin Compston came down to see me play too.

“I’m a huge fan of The Doors, so it was surreal standing on the stage where Jim Morrison performed in the early days.

“I emailed the club with a link to my music and they got back to me within the hour offering me a slot.

“It would have been crazy to turn it down.

“It’s definitely a massive tick on the bucket list!” The Gourock rocker also made the most of the stateside trip by cramming in a filming session.

Scott said: “We had the music video for the next single shot out there, which should be out in a few months.” The musician is now preparing for a hometown gig upstairs in the Darroch Bar on Shore Street tonight.

He will be supported by another local act, fellow singer songwriter David Laing.

Scott’s show starts at 9pm.
