A HOLLYWOOD star from Inverclyde has landed a part in a multi-million pound US TV show.
Teenage actor John Bell, who starred in the blockbuster Hobbit series, will star in the third series of Outlander.
The 19-year-old has impressed Outlander writer and producer Anne Kenney.
She wrote on Twitter it was ‘great working with John Bell’.
US author Diana Gabaldon, who penned the Outlander books which have been adapted for TV, also said she was impressed with the Kilmacolm star.
She posted: “He’s great!
“Even in the 60 seconds I’ve seen of him so far.”
The big budget drama follows the story of Claire Randall, a World War Two nurse who is mysteriously swept back in time from the 1940s to the 18th century Scotland.
The character John will play is Ian Murray, who is described as a ‘tall, gangly Scottish lad with a heart of gold, a stubborn streak and a penchant for getting into trouble’.
Filming for the new series is already well under way.
Back in August, the show’s producers filmed a re-enactment of the Battle of Culloden near Cumbernauld.
Season two of Outlander was shown in the UK on Amazon Prime earlier this year.
