THE threatened cuts to Inverclyde Royal Hospital are causing real concern among local women,  a meeting has heard.

At a recent event, organised by the Scottish Women’s Convention, ladies used the opportunity to express their fears for the future of local health services.

Women of all ages and backgrounds from Inverclyde, above,  took part in the roadshow designed to make sure their voices are head in the corridors of power.

Health service cuts was one of a number of issues highlighted during discussions.

Scottish Women’s Convention research advisor Lorna Kettles said:

“Women were really concerned about the cuts to local health services, in particular, maternity services.

“Many feel that health services may no longer be accessible to them when they are moved to Paisley or the Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow.

“They were also concerned about employment and depopulation.”

The Scottish Women’s Convention used the round table event to talk at length about a number of issues, including Brexit.

Lorna added: “We always get such a great response when we come to Inverclyde. We get women from all over the area and that is really important.”
