THE A8 through Inverclyde was plunged into chaos after heavy rainfall left the trunk road flooded.
A section of East Hamilton Street, opposite Riverside Business Park, was completely submerged on Sunday afternoon and had to be closed for a spell.
Drivers were forced to divert along the likes of Weir Street, pictured, which was blocked up with cars, vans and buses.
Areas including Sinclair Street, Gibshill Road and Lilybank in Port Glasgow were also clogged up with vehicles as motorists avoided the waterlogged A8.
