MORTON won’t come up short – after launching a raffle for one lucky business to win a special kit sponsorship for next season.

Cappielow chiefs are giving firms the chance to enter a £100 prize draw where the winner will have their corporate logo emblazoned on the shorts of the first team players during the 2017/18 campaign.

The initiative was launched by new Morton chief executive Warren Hawke and players Michael Doyle and Gary Oliver, all pictured.

Ton bosses say they could have easily sold the shorts advertising space to the highest bidder but are instead giving companies, especially Inverclyde firms, the chance to gain exposure.

The club are believed to be only the second in the country to take the innovative advertising step.

Warren said: “It’s something a bit different. We could have sold the rights but we would love an Inverclyde firm to have their company name in lights.”

Cappielow chiefs say companies taking part in the raffle won’t be shortchanged because as well as the prospect of having their firm’s branding on the home and away kit, all entrants will be automatically given membership of the Morton business club.

There will also be matchday hospitality packages up for grabs, tickets for the directors’ box, match ball sponsorship and an autographed team shirt.

With Ton flying high in the Scottish Championship – and pushing for promotion to the Premiership next season – the lucky winner may also get more than they bargained for.

Warren said: “We want to connect with as many local companies as possible and give them the chance to showcase their business next season, whatever division we are in.”
