AUDIENCES will be taken on a timewarp at Inverclyde Academy’s spectacular school show.

Tickets are being snapped up fast for ‘Back to the 80s’ - The Totally Awesome Musical’, which begins tonight.

The show tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School, as remembered through the eyes of a now thirty-something former student.

The entire school has been involved in the production, including pupils in the newly formed ‘Technical Theatre’ club which will provide support to the stage crew.

Drama teacher Emma McCallum said: “As always our pupils have dedicated a huge amount of their time to commit to our rehearsal schedule.

“We are extremely sad this year to be saying goodbye to our senior pupils in the cast and crew who are now ready to leave Inverclyde Academy and move on to new challenges, with some of those pupils going on to do acting and performance in further education.

“We wish them the best of luck.”

Ms McCallum was keen to thank Billy Martin, the school technician, for his work with the theatre club and operating the lighting/sound box on show nights.

Special thanks also go to the school’s performing arts department and to Tesco in Greenock for allowing the pupils to bag pack, which raised £800 towards the production.

Tickets for the show, which runs from Tuesday to Thursday at 7pm, are £6 per ticket or £20 for four tickets.
