A BRANCHTON mum is working to help children in her own community.
Greenock mum-of-two Carol McEwan is part of the team at Branchton Community Centre.
They have used funding from the government to run a range of activities and courses every day of the week.
The project development officer runs after-school art and crafts classes as well as looking at ways to bring more to the centre.
Carol, who lives and works in the heart of Branchton with daughter Joanne, 10, and son Anthony, eight, said: “It means a lot to work towards helping make your own community a better place to live.
“We have a great set-up in the community centre and Branchton is a great place to live.
“The children can go out to play and there is the centre.”
The community centre has a hugely popular youth set-up with a youth club as well as after-school activities.
As well as arts and crafts there is a sports club and plans are in place to introduce cooking sessions.
At the arts and craft classes run by Carol, Orla Harris, nine, and Evie Homer, six, were busy making bows for their hair.
Evie said: “I really like my bow.”
