BANK staff gave a good account of themselves after taking the day off work to repair a vandalised Greenock nursery.
A group of RBS Mortgage Centre employees turned up at Larkfield Children’s Centre on Thursday to fix the garden, which was recently trashed for the second time in as many weeks.
After seeing the mess made by mindless yobs, the bank workers wanted to do something to help and turned up armed with paint, brushes, pots and plants to return the outdoor area to its former glory.
The workers chose the children’s centre to benefit from a company scheme which allows employees a day off to get out and about and do good in their local communities.
Greenock man Paul Millar said: “When we heard this playground had been targeted and vandalised we wanted to do something to fix it.
“We have what we call charity days and this is what we chose for ours.
“Each team picks a community to come out and do something good.”
Ten members of staff from the ‘early team’ at the Cartsburn mortgage centre rolled up their sleeves and worked throughout the day.
They repainted walls and plant beds, put up bunting and decorations and planted new flowers.
Deborah McEachran, from Greenock, said: “Thankfully our team managers allowed us the day to come out into the community.
“We all enjoyed it and it was nice weather as well, which is a bonus.
“The guys from the nursery gave us tea and coffee to make sure we were well watered.
“It was fantastic.”
