A MAN suffered a serious blow to his head during a vicious attack in a Greenock street last night.
The 42-year-old was rushed to Inverclyde Royal for treatment and needed to have staples put in his head after he was hit with a blunt weapon.
It happened in John Street at 10pm.
Detective Stuart Young, of Greenock CID, said: “The victim was struck on the head with a blunt instrument causing trauma.
“Inquiries are at an early stage so we are appealing for anyone who may have saw something suspicious in John Street or has information that will help with our enquiries.”
