TWO football players from one of the most famous clubs in the world posed for photos with a star-struck Greenock man.

Self-confessed football fanatic Paul McCann was on honeymoon in the US when he bumped into Iván Rossi and Marcelo Larrondo, left, who play for Club Atlético River Plate – the world famous Argentinian side.

Speaking to the Tele from Orlando, the 26-year-old, who is a huge Morton fan, said it was very exciting to meet the elite players who were staying at the same hotel.

Paul said: “We were lounging about in the Omni Hotel and the players were staying there as they were taking part in a pre-season training camp.

“We saw loads of the big names and I asked for a photo.

“I don’t think they understood my accent but they were quite pleasant and stopped for a snap.”

Paul, from Larkfield, who is on honeymoon with his wife Samantha, is a huge fan of the ‘beautiful game’, so much so that he incorporated football into their dream trip abroad.

He added: “We went along to see Paris Saint Germain vs Juventus at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. It was a great game.”

The football players were not the only famous faces the couple met whilst in America as they bumped into Duane Chapman from hit US reality show ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’.

Paul added: “We saw him at Disney Springs.

“He didn’t stop for photos though!”

Before jetting off on honeymoon, Paul treated some of his wedding guests to a day at Cappielow.

He said: “Before we left on honeymoon, I took some of Samantha’s relatives, who had come over from the US for the wedding, to the Morton game.

“My dad Jim and my nephew Patrick also came along.”

Paul, who works as a supervisor for a security group, and Samantha, who works as a Spanish and French teacher, are now enjoying the rest of their honeymoon.

They will spend the rest of their time in Tampa, Florida, with Samantha’s relatives.
