SUPER bowlers took on the rain to have a great day at Ardgowan Bowling Club.

Seven families and ‘frontrunner’ volunteers from the Commonwealth Games went along.

Saturday’s event was organised by Enterprise Childcare to raise funds for its autism service.

Those who use or have used the service and their parents were delighted to give bowling a go.

Ann Walsh, manager of Enterprise Childcare, said: “The aim of the event was to fundraise and secondly to give children and their families the chance to do an activity like lawn bowls that perhaps they hadn’t tried before.

"It could be something that the children could do as a junior activity or as a family.

“We still went out and played despite the rain.

“We received really positive feedback and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The event raised £300 for the service and organisers want to thank Ardgowan Bowling Club for allowing them to use their premises.
