THE home where missing Margaret Fleming lived has had an eight-foot fence thrown around its perimeter as police remain tight-lipped about a TV interview given by her carers.

Eddie Cairney, 75, and Avril Jones, 56, recently broke their silence to the BBC with a series of claims, including one that they had seen Margaret, 37, since her disappearance in October last year.

Mr Cairney also stated that the missing woman — last independently sighted nearly 18 years ago — was working as a ‘gangmaster’ in England and that she’d also travelled to Poland.

Ms Jones refused to talk about the claims when the Tele went to the house and Police Scotland have declined to comment after the Telegraph asked a series of questions.

A spokeswoman said: “Enquiries into Margaret’s disappearance are continuing.”

Meanwhile, workmen were at Seacroft in Inverkip over the weekend morning to erect the fence.

The move comes after Inverclyde Council served a demolition order declaring the property ‘unfit for human habitation’.

Ms Jones last month told Greenock Sheriff Court through a lawyer that a buyer was poised to purchase the house, with their own plans to bulldoze it.

A further hearing regarding this development is due to take place on Thursday.
