THOUGHTFUL staff at a local housing association gave up their spare time to help others in need.

The team from Larkfield Housing Association, part of the Link Group, rolled up their sleeves to help Compassionate

Inverclyde, a volunteering project which runs a number of programmes and bereavement services within the community.

Staff from the housing association helped to set up the project’s new base at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and also put together some supplies for the Back Home Boxes project, where people who live alone are given a comfort box as they are discharged from hospital.

Lynne Griffin, area manager at Larkfield Housing Association, said their ‘LinkGiving’ initiative gives staff the opportunity  to make a difference to their local communities.

She said: “Compassionate Inverclyde is a brilliant project and we were delighted to be involved.

“The project encapsulates what Link giving is all about - helping communities make a big difference through small changes.”

Alison Bunce, who is the programme lead for Compassionate Inverclyde said she is so grateful for their support.

She said: “This is a proud day for everyone who has supported the Back Home Boxes initiative.

“From Monday 13 November, any person being discharged from Inverclyde Royal Hospital who lives alone should get a Back Home Box containing some bare essentials, meaning they can enjoy a hot drink and a light snack when they get home.”
