CARING crafters hope to make wishes come true this Christmas.
The Wishes Group in Larkfield are on a festive mission to give back something to the community.
The ladies have been knitting and stitching to create baby and toddler clothes and toys to hand out to local families.
Secretary Arlene Keogh said: “Wishes stands for women’s initiative for socialising, health, education and skills. We’re a group of women who are over 50 who meet every Thursday.
“We have also carried out fundraising for the hospice and have organised theatre trips and days out.”
The group were recently looking for a new challenge, and after speaking to Janet Gregson from Larkfield Family Centre, Christmas Wishes was born.
The women have been hard at work and have filled eight black bags with kiddies’ aprons, crafts, toys, calendars with basic recipes and greetings cards.
InverStore has kindly offered a free unit to store the items.
Arlene added: “Janet runs a toddlers group and she is going to make up parcels for families with young children.
“We are all enthusiastic about the project. It’s something different.”
