A GOOD samaritan from Greenock came to the rescue of a TV star after she left her money at a local supermarket.

Still Game star Jane McCarry says she never thought she’d get back the £50 she accidentally left at the self check-out at the town’s Morrisons store.

But she says her faith has been restored in humanity after a kind stranger handed the cash back in.

Jane said: “I never thought I’d get it back but some good Inverclyder handed it in.

“It was so nice of them.”
Jane told the Tele she was not surprised by the kind act, as she says the people of Inverclyde have been ‘absolutely wonderful’ during her stint playing the Wicked Witch in Snow White at the Beacon Arts Centre.

She said: “We absolutely love the audiences in Greenock.

“The schools and the kids are so warm and so lovely.

“The people who stayed behind to talk to the cast were also really friendly.

“We genuinely love it here.

“What a place this is, it does feel like you’re somewhere a bit special.

“You really get a sense of community in Greenock.

“We’ve had a great time here.”

Jane says she also got the same warm reaction in Inverclyde even when she wasn’t on stage.

She added: “When I would go into M&S, people would stop and say how much they loved the panto and the staff were so warm and friendly.

“I would also sometimes pop into the Tesco at Port Glasgow still with my full face of costume make-up on and people were so lovely.”

Jane will soon be back on TV screens for the eagerly-awaited eighth series of hit BBC comedy Still Game.
