AN award-winning Greenock company is celebrating another successful year after profits more than doubled to over £1m.
International export firm PG Paper enjoyed a bumper spell in which turnover jumped by almost two-thirds.
According to its latest set of annual accounts, the company posted an operating profit before tax of £1.4m for the 12 months up to March 31 last year - up from £573,000 in 2016.
Turnover rose substantially, going from £13m to £35.9m during the same period.
The Custom House-based firm was left with a profit after tax of £1.1m.
PG Paper was founded in 2003 by businesswoman Poonam Gupta OBE, who runs the firm with husband Puneet.
Mr Gupta, the company’s chief operating officer, said: “It’s been a difficult year and despite the economic challenges and uncertainty it’s testament to the investment we have made in our systems and our staff.
“It’s all down to the great team we have.
“They put in a lot of hard work.”
