OVER a dozen new jobs are being created in Greenock by BT.
A total of 13 customer service apprentices will be recruited to work for the company at the EE contact centre at Cartsburn.
It is part of a drive to take on almost 80 new apprentices and graduates across Scotland.
Bosses at BT say they are ready to employ more than 1,300 people across the UK in a number of different roles, such as TV production, engineering, customer service and cyber-security, to help tackle the growing threat of cyber-crime.
The assessment process will see candidates asked to compete a series of virtual reality tasks.
BT personnel staff will assess them based on their analytical skills, how they handle change and their drive and enthusiasm.
Gavin Patterson, chief executive of BT, said: “We’re proud to be leading the industry by investing in training a huge number of people in the digital skills that the UK economy so vitally needs.
“BT has a rich history of innovation, and it’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining the company as we look towards growing our cyber-security business, developing 5G technologies and enhanced TV content.
“Our apprenticeship and graduate scheme will equip people with the skills and on the job training they will need to succeed in the future. I’m looking forward to welcoming all our new recruits into the business.”
