CUSTOMERS at Inverclyde Leisure face a price hike at its gyms, pools and sports centres.
Memberships and pay-as-you-go prices at the likes of the Waterfront Leisure Centre, pictured, are set to rise by about 2.5 per cent next month.
The move comes after Inverclyde Leisure saw its funding from the council cut by £102,000.
Bosses at the leisure trust say they understand customers may be unhappy but stressed that they are investing in facilities.
A statement from Inverclyde Leisure reads: “We understand price increases are never good news but like any business we have to review our prices to make sure our products stay competitive whilst managing our rising costs.
“Inverclyde Council have also committed significant future investment of over two million pounds for Lady Octavia Sport Centre, Boglestone Community Centre, the Indoor Bowling facility and they have also earmarked capital investment works for the Waterfront Leisure Complex for mechanical, electrical and heating systems as the facility has now approached 20 years.
“A new state of the art indoor tennis facility has also been earmarked for Inverclyde.”
Some of the changes include an increase in the cost of a fitness plus membership from £37 to £38.
Swimming lessons will also go up from £21 to £21.50.
Inverclyde Leisure said: “Our memberships and pay-as-you-go prices will see a slight increase as from 1st April.
“Overall this is a weighted average of around 2.5 per cent.
“Inverclyde Leisure would like to thank our customers for their ongoing continued support and business.”
