A TEAM of ‘tartan titans’ are going the extra mile to help a miracle toddler from Greenock.

Little Davis Kerr from Greenock spent six months in intensive care suffering from Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a potentially fatal illness which affects about one in every 2,500 births.

Half of all babies born with the condition do not survive, but Davis bravely battled through and is now a lively two-year-old enjoying nursery.

His courage has inspired his family friends and close neighbours Andrew Burns, Ross Walker and Robert Daisley to take on the 23-mile Kiltwalk from Glasgow to Balloch on Sunday April 29 in aid of the charity CDH UK.

They will also be joined on the mammoth walk by Davis’s proud dad Alex.

Andrew, 39, who is a process engineer at Texas Instruments, said: “I’m pals with Davis’s dad so we thought it would be a great idea to do the Kiltwalk to raise awareness of the condition and money for the charity.

“Davis is doing fantastically and is such a happy wee boy.

“He’s going to meet us at the end so it probably will be emotional.”

Davis’s dad Alex says he was thrilled when his friends said they wanted to do the Kiltwalk for his son.

He said: “Me and Andrew signed up to do it and then Ross and Robert put themselves forward too, which was brilliant.

“Davis is doing great.

“For what that wee boy has been through, you would never think he was sick.

“He’s very lively — nothing holds him back just now.

“He’s still due for more operations at some point this year.”

Davis, who lives with his dad, mum Joni and big brother Lucas, seven, in Killochend Drive, was born without a diaphragm, and his organs were up in his chest cavity.

His lungs did not develop properly and he was on oxygen constantly.

Alex added: “After he was born he spent six months fighting for his life.

“It’s amazing to see where he is just now.”

The walkers, who have called themselves ‘Team Davis’ are keen to thank Sammy from Kilted Kin in Ardgowan Street, who has kindly provided free kilt hire.

Sammy has even provided little Davis with a kilt to wear on the day.

The walkers have raised over £1,000 for the charity so far and donations can still be pledged online at https://glasgowkiltwalk2018.everydayhero.com/uk/team-davis-cdhuk
