A WOMAN who carried out a benefits swindle worth more than £7,200 has been spared prison.

Roseanne Mc-Kinnon, 26, pleaded guilty at Greenock Sheriff Court to claiming income support totalling £7,204.

She was not entitled to the benefit as she was living with a man as husband and wife.

The charge against McKinnon, that she failed to inform the Department of Work and Pensions, in Dalrymple Street, of her change in circumstances at an address in Kingston Crescent in Port Glasgow, relates to a single date on 13 October 2007.
