Police launch £25,000 drugs raid
POLICE seized drugs with a value of £25,000 after a dawn raid on a house in the east end of Greenock yesterday.
Drug squad officers swooped on the address and recovered large quantities of cannabis, amphetamine and valium.
The seizure was sparked by an intelligence-led operation.
Superintendent Grant Manders, of Greenock police, said: "We are always delighted to take drugs off the streets and we are naturally pleased at the large quantity of drugs we recovered. This is a significant seizure for Inverclyde."
Supt Manders says drugs are a big problem in the area and he and his staff will continue to work to catch those who are responsible for doling out misery on the streets of Inverclyde.
He said: "Drugs are a major problem in Inverclyde and my officers work tirelessly to make arrests and put these people in front of the courts."
A 24-year-old Greenock man is expected to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court today facing a charge of possession with intent to supply.
