VANDALS went on the rampage, smashing more than 40 windows in doctors' accommodation at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
They targeted a row of terraced homes used as temporary accommodation for doctors in Larkfield Road.
Nearly every property had a window or door smashed.
A woman whose house backs onto the hospital site said: "It's shocking - I've lived here for 40 years and there's never been any trouble."
Four teenage boys were seen running away from the area at around 5pm on Thursday.
They were all aged 14 years old and have a slim build.
One was wearing a white top and dark blue tracksuit bottoms, another had a grey hooded top and blue tracksuit bottoms, while a third wore a football top with blue and crimson horizontal stripes bearing the number '16'.
No description was available for the fourth boy.
A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "We can confirm that a number of windows were smashed in the empty residential accommodation off Larkfield Road.
"We are in the process of making these buildings secure and have asked our community wardens and the police to make additional checks on these buildings.
"We are currently getting quotes for the repair work necessary for the damage caused."
Police are appealing for anyone who was in area at that time to come forward.
Anyone who can help with inquiries should call 492500, or you are asked to telephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
