A GREENOCK woman has received the MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Eleanor Robertson, 62, is being honoured for services to community health care.
She is a former chairwoman of NHS Argyll and Clyde's Inverclyde Division and was the manager at Inverclyde Carers Centre for five-and-a-half years.
She is currently chair of the Scottish Network for Families Affected by Drugs and the Inverclyde drug rehabilitation project Moving On.
She also works with other bodies, including Financial Fitness, Inverclyde Community Health Association, the East End Advisory Group, CVS Inverclyde, which provides support to voluntary organisations and community groups, and with Inverclyde Tourist Group.
Eleanor, who has two sons, said today: "The news came as a great surprise and a great honour.
"It's not just for me, but is recognition for all the volunteers and professionals I've worked with over the years."
Provost Michael McCormick said: "I've known Eleanor for many years. This honour is thoroughly deserved."
Carers' Centre company secretary, Irene Pollard, added: "Eleanor's honour is well deserved.
"She managed the centre very well and also previously worked with the Phoenix Community Health Project, trying to encourage people to change their diet and way of life."
Former Tourist Group chairman, Alister McAleese, said the award of the MBE was 'wonderful news'.
He said: "Eleanor has done a great deal to try to help drug addicts. She is a great champion for several causes throughout Inverclyde and a great local person. She is very community orientated.
"She is a staunch supporter of the Tourist Group and is at the quayside every time a ship comes into the Ocean Terminal."
