PUPILS of Langbank Primary School gave retiring head teacher Margaret Fraser the perfect send-off with a special retirement ceremony.
Mrs Fraser has enjoyed a 39-year teaching career, in both Greenock and Langbank.
The pupils treated Mrs Fraser to an afternoon of song and dance, with performances of a song from every decade since she was born in the 50s. She also enjoyed a church service with her pupils and staff.
Mrs Fraser told the Tele: "I am looking forward to my retirement but I will miss the children and staff. They are a great group of pupils.
"While I will miss them I do look forward to having more time for myself, so I'll be devoting more time to working in my garden and to tennis.
"The church service was a lovely occasion.
"I would like to thank everyone for what they have done for me."
Principal teacher Sheila Curran paid tribute to the retiring head.
She said: "The children have been working hard to make sure the afternoon was a success.
"They rehearsed a song from each decade since the 50s and we had a good mix of genres from rock to some new romantic.
"She has been a wonderful head teacher and will be missed by pupils and staff alike.
"She has given everything to the job, making sure every pupil has had a fantastic array of opportunities to learn and has worked extremely hard to ensure the pupils had access to a variety of activities and trips outwith the school, often sacrificing her personal time in the process.
"The school was always planning something for the pupils with Margaret there.
"After so long in teaching I hope she enjoys a thoroughly deserved retirement."
Mrs Fraser was a teacher at King's Glen in Greenock for 16 years and head at Langbank for 23 years.
