A TESCO shopper was allegedly stabbed outside the Port Glasgow superstore.
It is understood the 30-year-old man had been shopping in the store before the incident - which reportedly took place in the supermarket's car park, around 11.45pm on Friday night.
It is believed the man exchanged words with the teenager - who is then alleged to have stabbed him.
The man suffered a puncture wound to his abdomen and was detained overnight in Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
Greenock Police confirmed a 16-year-old boy has been charged with assault to injury in relation to an incident outside the store on Friday.
Tesco declined to comment when contacted by the Tele.
