ONE of Greenock’s busiest streets is being revamped as part of a major £2m town centre redevelopment project.
West Blackhall Street is getting a makeover, with shop fronts improved, stonework cleaned and gutters tidied up.
Road closures and a one way system along the length of the street is in place while the facelift is carried out.
A grand entrance to the street will be formed at its junction with Grey Place, with work well under way.
A 'Greenock’ sign will be put up and a Green Oak wood nymph statue, currently on display in the Oak Mall, will be installed on a plinth.
Journalism students Andrew Elliott and Amanda MacMillan have made a video package about the revamp, interviewing the key players behind it, including Riverside Inverclyde chief Bill Nicol and Inverclyde Council regeneration convener Jim Clocherty.
Local residents also give their views.
