A GREENOCK family claim they have lived in a damp house for years - because defective doors and windows were not replaced.
Tracy Arkley and her three children moved into a property in Renton Road three years ago, and since then she has had to contend with water ingress each time it rains heavily.
The fed-up mum contacted the Tele this week after growing frustrated with landlords River Clyde Homes.
She claimed delays to the repairs caused an infestation of bugs in her house.
Tracy, 35, said: “The windows and doors were condemned by River Clyde and then three months ago I was finally asked to picked out replacements.
“Measurements were taken, but I never heard anything back.
“Every time it’s been raining the house floods and I have to mop up - we actually have a new carpet in storage because I refuse to lay it and let it get ruined.
“The house has become riddled with damp and my 16-year-old, Jamie, won’t sleep in his room because we found bugs in it.
“The damp can’t be good for my three-year-old, Kieran, either, as he has asthma.”
When the Tele spoke to River Clyde Homes, staff issued an apology and said they would send officials to visit Ms Arkley.
A spokesman said: “New doors have been ordered and new windows will be installed. We can only apologise to Ms Arkley for the delay.
“This is the first time we have been made aware of the infestation, but the inspector will assess the situation.”
