LIGHTS: Stacey Solomon.

X FACTOR star Stacey Solomon will be bringing a dash of festive cheer to Greenock this year - when she switches on the Oak Mall’s Christmas lights.

Fans of the TV talent show will be able to catch a glimpse of their idol in the flesh at the shopping centre from 3.30pm on Thursday 11 November.

Bosses at the mall today said getting Stacey to the mall was a great coup for the town.

In previous years, the centre has had fellow X Factor stars Laura White, right, and Same Difference perform the switch-on honours.

Centre manager Claire Jefcoate added: “This will be the third X Factor star we’ve had in a row, which is just brilliant for the mall and for the town.

“We are particularly delighted to welcome Stacey to Greenock this year because she is well known and liked for her great personality, as well as the fact she came third in the competition. I think she will prove very popular.

“We have had a good response in previous years and I’m sure Stacey will be a huge hit.

“The fact we have someone of Stacey’s calibre coming will raise the profile of the town and prepare everyone for the start of the festive season and Christmas shopping.”

Stacey found fame after wowing judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh on her way to coming third in 2009’s X Factor.

Although she didn’t win the annual talent search, Stacey’s quirky personality earned her millions of fans and she quickly became a household name.

Since leaving the show, she has been performing at gigs up and down the UK, doing photo shoots, TV appearances and spending quality time with her son Zach.

In February this year, Stacey started on the 57-show X Factor Tour, performing her favourite songs from the series.
