Three on £80k drug charges
THREE people have appeared in court following an £80,000 drugs raid by police in Greenock town centre.
Richard Kane, David Weir and Lorraine Sharkey appeared in private at Greenock Sheriff Court charged with being concerned in the supply of five different types of drugs from an address in West Blackhall Street.
The property raided last week is the home address of 43-year-old Kane.
All three accused were alleged to have been concerned in the supply of amphetamine, cocaine and ecstasy from the flat on 29 June.
A fourth charge alleges that Weir, Kane and Sharkey were also concerned in the supply of cannabis and diazepam from the property on the same date.
Weir, of St Lawrence Street, and Sharkey, of Primrose Avenue, both Greenock, were both represented by defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher during brief appearances before Sheriff John Herald.
Neither accused made any plea or declaration, with the case continued for further examination.
Weir, 33, was remanded in custody while 22-year-old Sharkey was granted bail to appear again later this month.
Kane was represented by solicitor Gerry Keenan. He also made no plea or declaration and was remanded until his next appearance. The trio's appearances at court on Friday afternoon followed a raid by Greenock police just before 2pm on Wednesday.
Officers searched a property under warrant and recovered a substantial quantity of five different substances, alleged to have been illegal drugs.
Police placed an estimated street value on the haul at just over £80,000.
The three accused were detained in police custody until their appearances in court this Friday.
