FILM scores and all the thrills of the orchestra featured heavily yesterday as dazzling young musicians from across Inverclyde took part in day four of the Inverclyde Music Festival.

It kicked off with action songs including 'Donald Where's Your Troosers?' and 'The Bare Necessities', featuring pupils from primaries four to seven.

That was followed by soloists performing songs from musicals such as 'Mary Poppins' and 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' in the afternoon for those aged 10 years and under.

Sandwiched in between were girls in primary four and under carrying out vocal solo sessions.

All were contesting a number of prized trophies to take back to their respective schools.

Burns season also continued into the afternoon to the delight of judges as a number of competitions got under way.

Boys in primary seven and under performed solo Scots songs which was followed by girls from the same age range battling it out for the George Taylor Memorial Trophy and Elizabeth Graham Memorial Trophy, respectively.

Later in the day and into the afternoon boys aged 12 and under continued the musical feast with a vocal solo of test piece 'Walking in the Air'.

In the evening high schools offered the splendour of the opera as junior orchestras joined in the festival with impressive performances before schools concert bands took to the stage.

Senior competitions also took place followed by more starring performances with movie and Disney themed songs by youngsters from throughout the area's schools.
