DEMOLITION teams have moved in to the site of the former Wellington Academy secondary school in Greenock.

The school, which was last used by Notre Dame pupils before they moved into their new home on Dunlop Street, is to be torn down.

It has been fenced off by contractors while workmen have begun the process of stripping the building out.

Inverclyde Council plan to put the large area of land, which sits between Dempster Street and Wellington Street, up for sale once it is cleared.
