A STRETCH of the A78 has been reopened following its closure after an accident last night.

Police said a man was knocked down at around 7.15pm, resulting in the northbound lanes being shut from Bankfoot roundabout.

The man was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.

Emergency services remained on the scene for some time and motorists were diverted on to Cloch Road towards Gourock.
