MSP lodges motion for NFL star
A LOCAL MSP has lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament in praise of Greenock-born gridiron great Lawrence Tynes.
Ace kicker Lawrence played a vital role as his New York Giants side triumphed in the Super Bowl on Sunday night, defeating New England Patriots in American Football's showpiece occasion.
Congratulations have been pouring in since and the SNP's Stuart McMillan has now asked his fellow MSPs to salute the Greenock-born NFL star.
Mr McMillan's motion asks that the parliament congratulates Lawrence on winning America's National Football League Super Bowl for a second time and notes that it is his second such success, after he helped his team to glory four years ago.
Lawrence, who moved to the States when he was a youngster, was a key figure in Sunday's match, with a touchdown conversion and two field goals as his team triumphed 21-17.
He was cheered on by thousands of Scots watching the match live on TV, including his family members from Inverclyde.

Report commentAre there no more important issues for Mr McMillan to get his teeth into. The gridiron kicker is no more a Greenokian than my grannies cat. He happened to be born here due to his family circumstance at the time, has probably never been or will have any reason to come back. Stop claiming him as a Scot. He's as American as blueberry pie.

Report commentMcMillan like McKenzie needs to get a life outside politics, for they surely shouldn't have a future inside it,if involvement in trivia reflects their ambitions(assuming that they have any).
