Rail workers set for strike
RAIL workers are to stage two 24-hour strikes that are expected to hit services in and out of Inverclyde.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers Union confirmed they will be calling two further walkouts at the West of Scotland Signalling Centre following an ongoing dispute over career progression.
After a meeting with Network Rail bosses, the union decided on the move after a 'total failure' by the management to make any progress in settling the dispute.
A previous round of action was suspended last month to allow for further talks but the union says management has failed to engage with the union in finding a workable solution to the dispute.
Workers will walk out for 24 hours from 5.59am on Tuesday and from the same time on Friday 2 March. Network Rail says it is 'confident' it will still be able to run a comprehensive service for passengers if the strikes go ahead.
The RMT says it 'remains available for talks at any time aimed at resolving this dispute'.
