Fears over demolition rumours
FEARS over demolitions in the Belville Street area of Greenock's east end have led to a public meeting with residents.
The Belville Community Association has asked officials from River Clyde Homes to meet with them to discuss plans for the future, after growing speculation among tenants and residents in recent weeks.
Its chairwoman Alice McCaughey said: "There are all kinds of rumours flying around and some people think that there will be demolitions in John Street and Belville Avenue, above.
"I think we are also concerned about where people are going to be moved to - there doesn't seem to be anywhere else to go.
"I have asked River Clyde Homes to come along to try and answer people's concerns."
The public meeting takes place in St Lawrence's Social Club, Ingleston Street, Greenock, on Wednesday from 7.30pm.
This will be followed by a social event afterwards giving residents the opportunity to chat over a cup of tea.
