Waterloo Road in Greenock hits screens
MILLIONS of viewers tuned in to the new Greenock-based series of BBC drama Waterloo Road.
The Tele featured in the opening scenes of the hit show, which attracts an audience of around five million viewers.
The Tele was involved in the storyline and a special edition of the paper - including an article welcoming the school to the town - was made as a prop for the episode.
The headline 'Waterloo Road proves a hit with parents' was read out to school head teacher Michael Byrne, who was then shown holding the paper up.
Several other familiar locations, including the Tontine Hotel, Cleats Bar in Gourock, James Watt College, the former Lindores Manor and the Esplanade were all seen in the episode.
The show has been filming in Madeira Street since April.
Cast and crew have been seen in and around the town since then and Inverclyde's scenery will feature prominently in the new series.
