Morton fans, and their Queen of the South counterparts, donated the substantial sum in memory of Andy Kemp, the lifelong Ton supporter who tragically collapsed and died as the two teams played at Cappielow on Saturday.
After that match was subsequently abandoned, Morton announced that admission to the rescheduled game would be free, with everyone going along invited to donate to St Andrews's First Aid Inverclyde Group.
The organisation's volunteers had fought to save 74 year old Andy after he collapsed in the Sinclair Street end just minutes into Saturday's match.
A crowd of over 2,300 attended tonight's rearranged game and made contributions totalling around six thousand pounds, with the final total still to be confirmed.
They also honoured Andy, along with players and officials, before this evening's kick off, by taking part in a minute's applause in his memory.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
