FOUR foster parents who have looked after more than 200 children between them have been congratulated for their dedicated work.

Inverclyde Council praised the contribution of the carers, who have each carried out the role for more than 20 years.

Councillor Joe McIlwee, chair of Inverclyde Community Health and Care Partnership, said: “I would like to say a personal thank-you to all of these people for enhancing the lives of so many young people and their families.

“We are fortunate to have a dedicated and committed group of foster carers and adoptive parents but we are always looking to recruit more.

“It can make all the difference to a child’s life to be brought up in a stable and secure environment and can be an incredibly rewarding thing to do.” If you would like to find out more about fostering visit www.inverclyde.gov.uk and click on ‘social care and health’.
