PUPILS brewed up a heartwarming £350 for charity at their coffee morning.

More than 60 parents and friends joined youngsters at St Michael’s Primary last month to support the Fairtrade event.

Guests tucked into home baking, refreshments and bought keyrings, purses and knitted goods.

There were also Fairtrade Hampers, kindly donated by parents and members of the community for raffle prizes.

The money raised went to charity Traidcraft.

The event was part of a two-week long campaign to urge people to buy Fairtrade goods to help developing countries.

The school’s Fairtrade steering group also organised a banana split day and wear yellow day and assembly that looked at the bananas’ journey from plant to plate.

The school has achieved FairActive status but is progressing well towards FairAchiever school status.

The school would like to thank teachers, pupils, parents and friends for making the project such a success.
