YOUNG footballers from St Andrew’s Boys’ Club raised nearly £1,000 during a successful supermarket bag packing event.

Most of the cash raised by the Under 17s lads at Morrisons will go towards pitch fees for matches and training.

But co-ordinator Steven Mullen said: “I’m sure there’ll be a bit left over to help pay for our end-of-season night out at the Tontine Hotel soon.

“This is the third bag pack we’ve done and all of them have been very successful.

“One of the boys’ mums works in Morrisons so we arranged it through that connection.

“I’d just like to thank all the local shoppers who supported our efforts — it is much appreciated.

“And thanks, too, to Morrisons for welcoming us into the store.”
