A GREENOCK martial arts stuntman has told of his excitement at starring alongside Oscar winner Colin Firth in his latest movie.

Craig Miller worked with the famous actor in Kingsman: The Secret Service, which co-stars Michael Caine and Samuel L Jackson. The 31-year-old says he enjoyed filming fight scenes with the star, who shot to fame as Mr Darcy in the 1995 adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, and later won an Oscar for his portrayal of King George VI in the King’s Speech in 2010.

Craig said: “It was a great experience — dramatically he’s an Oscar-winning actor but he had to work on his action.

“He’d never done anything like that before and he had 12 weeks martial arts and acrobatic training.

“Given the pressure he was under I was surprised how nice he was.” Craig, who’s from Branchton, specialises in fight choreography, stunt doubling and character roles such as soldiers and security guards.

He spent 10 years working in the film industry in Hong Kong but moved to London two years ago.

Craig said: “I did a bit of Bollywood as well but unless you follow Hong King cinema no-one would see any of my films.

“It’s good working in London, Secret Service is a Warner production and it will be released worldwide and it was shot in the same studio as Harry Potter, which was a huge experience for me.” Craig’s career is really taking off at the moment and he also features as a Turkish soldier in Dracula Untold, staring Dominic Cooper, who starred in Mamma Mia and The History Boys.

He’s landed a part in the latest Sacha Baron Cohen film Grimsby, and features as an MI5 agent in the film.

Craig said: “In Dracula Untold I’m part of the Turkish army.

“It was good experience working with the stunt team, who double for the ‘Expendables’ cast.

“These people double for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

“I learned so much — these guys are huge in the industry.”
