THE magnificent MSC Magenta glided into Greenock to become the latest floating pleasure palace to visit the town as part of a packed summer sailings programme.

Following in her wake today will be the Ruby Princess as a further four cruise ships - Rotterdam, Crystal Symphony, Discovery and Aida Cara - are set to berth at Inverclyde between now and Sunday. Weighing in at an impressive 93,300 gross tonnes, the Magenta is more than 40,000 tonnes heavier than Titanic — and at 964ft she is 82ft longer than the White Star ship.
