A MAN was taken to hospital after being hurt when a car ploughed into a bus shelter.

The man, who is 47, was waiting at the bus stop across from the BP petrol station in Inverkip Road and suffered a leg injury from flying debris.

Emergency services immediately rushed to the scene of the accident yesterday afternoon.

Constable Kyle McDougall of Greenock police said: “Police were called at 2.15pm in relation to a report of a vehicle crashing into a bus shelter, injuring a man standing in the shelter.

“It is understood the injury is not serious.” Police remained at the scene for some time afterwards and it is not yet known if anyone will be charged or not in connection with the incident.
