KIND-HEARTED Greenock shop workers are aiming to raise thousands of pounds for terminally ill children in the next 12 months.
Staff at the popular Wilkinson store in the town’s Oak Mall have already handed over their first cheque to the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).
The initial £130 donation comes following an in-store event telling customers that CHAS is their ‘charity partner’ for the next year.
Workers helped raise more than £2,500 for the Yorkhill Children’s Charity during the previous 12 months.
Assistant store manager Geri Solomons said: “As we will be supporting CHAS throughout the year, we were really keen to ensure our customers know about all the great work the charity does.
“Everyone seemed really interested in finding out more and they were generous in their donations. This is just the start of our fundraising efforts, so watch this space for our next event!” Criona Knight, corporate and events fundraiser at CHAS, said: “It’s so nice to see the team at Wilko in Greenock so enthusiastic about our charity, and educating customers about what we do.”
