A MARTIAL arts film star from Greenock is taking the plunge to make dreams come true for children in Inverclyde.

Craig Miller, a kung fu expert and stuntman, went on a Great Wall of China trek for the Inverclyde branch of Dreams Come True in 2012, raising £3,500, and tomorrow he is doing a 160-foot bungee jump for the charity.

Craig, from Branchton, is part of a Hong Kong-based stunt team and has featured in films as well as travelling the world to perfect his art.

He gets up to all sorts of dangerous things in the stunt business, but has never done a bungee jump.

He said: “I’ve just appeared in ‘The Secret Service’ with Colin Firth, and I was ‘killed’ six times as different characters.

“Over the years I’ve been hit by cars, thrown down stairs and smashed through tables, but that’s all carefully rehearsed and I’m in control of it.

“The bungee jump is different. Other guys are in control. It will certainly be eventful.” The 31-year-old will be joined by Greenock friend Tony Gordon, 47, who has recovered from a benign brain tumour.

The pair will do their jump at Braehead, and are looking forward to the challenge.

Tony said: “I’ve done the same bungee before at Braehead, and it’s one of the scariest things I’ve ever been involved in. Your brain isn’t tuned to do freefall, so it’s quite a challenge.

“We wanted to something with an adrenaline rush, and decided to raise money for Dreams Come True at the same time.” After his aerial exploits Craig will be back on firm ground next month when he travels to London to begin filming an Indian ‘Bollywood’ movie.

He said: “I’ve appeared as Chinese guys before and needed a lot of make-up, so I’ll need to be made up quite a bit again to be a Bollywood actor!” Anyone who would like to sponsor Craig and Tony for Sunday’s bungee jump should visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/craigntony
