FAMOUS TV star Lorraine Kelly shimmied her way into Greenock as part of a non-stop 24-hour fitness challenge.

Dressed in a T-shirt, black leggings and trainers, the friendly presenter laughed and joked with fitness fans who had gathered at Greenock Sports Centre for a charity Zumba session.

It was one of 12 dance and exercise classes that Lorraine completed during an intense 24-hour period to raise money for children living in poverty.

Speaking to the Tele, Lorraine said she was thrilled to visit Inverclyde and overwhelmed by the support she received from locals.

Lorraine said: “It’s great to see so many people turn out for this in Greenock.

“I started doing Zumba in London as my instructor Maxine Jones holds classes just around the corner from me and I’m now really hooked.

“I have friends who live just down the road from here and Maxine has never been to Scotland before so it’s great for her to see so much of the country.” Local Zumba instructor Jill Baxter, from Port Glasgow, was thrilled to take some of the class alongside fellow instructors Jean Kirkwood and Lisa Watt.

She told the Tele: “This is the biggest charity event I have done so I was really nervous.

“But Lorraine was so lovely that my nerves disappeared and I really enjoyed it.” Lorraine thanked everyone who attended the fundraiser and has urged people to support her charity appeal.

She said: “I am always up for taking on a challenge that raises money to help the fight against child poverty.

“I hope dance groups and fitness fans all over the country get behind me and help raise as much as possible for this incredibly worthwhile cause.” To support Lorraine’s fundraising challenge and make a donation to theappeal, visit Lorraine’s JustGiving page on www.justgiving.com/STVAppealLorraineKelly
