A FAMILY from Greenock are proving to be runaway winners when it comes to playing the real-life generation game.

Edith Wilkinson, 96, is now head of five generations of her clan thanks to the arrival of a special baby girl.

The matriarch was thrilled to meet great-great granddaughter little Sophie Lily Sinclair, who was born only four weeks ago.

The pensioner who has lived in Bellaire Nursing Home for six years, enjoyed a visit from the youngest family member and the Tele was invited along to share the memorable occasion.

The beautiful bundle was full of smiles for her great-great grandmother.

Edith was joined by her daughter Lily O’Neill, granddaughter Sandra White, and Sophie’s mum, great-granddaughter Kelly White, to celebrate.

Lily, 77, of Rankin Court, said: “Sophie is a very special baby for the family — she is the first great-great grandchild.

“My mum’s been cuddling her and kissing her.

“She is delighted.

“Family is very important — we all started our families when we were in our 20s.

“My mum was 19 when she had me and I’m one of nine.” Lily has three children, Robert, 56, Ian, 54 and Sandra.

Proud grandmother Sandra has two children Kelly, 21, and 18-year-old Russell.

Sandra, 46, said: “I’m chuffed to bits.

“Sophie is just so contented.

“I’m more proud for my mum.

“It was important for her that my gran saw her.”
