A MAN is expected to appear in court today charged with biting off part of a pensioner’s finger.

The alleged horror attack on the 64-year-old woman is said to have happened on board a Greenock bus as it travelled through the town.

It is understood that the OAP was trying to halt an alleged attack on another man, aged 43, who is said to have suffered several bite injuries to his head.

A 28-year-old suspect is currently in police custody ahead of an appearance at Greenock Sheriff Court this afternoon.

The Telegraph understands that the woman got off the C&M Coaches bus with part of her finger allegedly missing to confront her alleged attacker again.

A source said that the suspect is claimed to have then struck her on the head with an ‘object’ before fleeing.

The pensioner and the other man were still being treated at Inverclyde Royal Hospital yesterday.

The alleged double attack is said to have happened on Wednesday evening at around 6.45pm as the bus made its way from Burns Road to Kylemore Terrace in Greenock.

A source said: “It started at the bus stop in Burns Road because the guy was annoying someone.

“Then there was a bit of a scene when he was told to sit down and be quiet.

“It was then that he bit the woman’s finger.

“I’m told he was involved in an incident on the bus with a man as well as the woman, before exiting and running off at Kylemore Terrace.”
