INVERCLYDE acting star Martin Compston hopes people will snap up their tickets today for a massive charity gig in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

Scottish rockers The View, pictured below, are headlining the huge bash at Greenock Town Hall on Friday 19 December — and tickets went online at Ticketmaster from 9am this morning.

The tickets, priced at £17, will also be on sale from noon tomorrow at the Albert Hotel in Cove Road, Gourock, as well as from Adlib Music in Jamaica Street, Greenock, and from the Access Centre at Ardgowan Hospice in Nelson Street.

Martin, pictured, who is a proud patron of the hospice, told the Tele he is so excited about the event, which will also feature rising local acts Brownbear and Cabey and Glasgow-based Hector Bizerk.

He said: “I’m genuinely excited about it.

“The response so far has been brilliant, I’m really chuffed as people from as far afield as America are interested in coming to the gig.

“I saw Pete Doherty and Ian Brown at the town hall years ago and they were amazing, so to see The View there will be fantastic, especially as its raising money for Ardgowan Hospice.

“It’ll be a great gig for a good cause.” Demand for the 1,100 tickets is expected to be high, as The View will take to the stage fresh from working on their highly anticipated new album.

Martin added: “The View have never played in Greenock before so they’re really looking forward to it.” For tickets go to www.ticketmaster.co.uk or pop in to the venues mentioned above from noon on Saturday.
