A BEST selling book of poems and prose by the Greenock Writers’ Club is helping raise much needed cash for cancer patients.
The anthology, ‘Scotch Potch’, written by the members, has so far raised £750 for Ardgowan Hospice.
The authors recently went to the hospice to hand over their latest cheque – along with their mascot Digby the dog.
Vice president Ian Taylor said: “We put some poems and prose together. We decided to use it to raise money for the hospice. We were delighted to hand over the money.
“Our dog Digby is owned by one of our members and is our mascot. He comes to all the meetings.” ‘Scotch Potch’, which includes 47 poems and short stories, pays tribute to two writers – the late Lydia Webster, a founder member of the club in 1960, and the late Marion Harris, who was cared for at Ardgowan Hospice.
The writers’ club handed over £250 at the latest presentation.
